The Barrington Fire Company participated in Fire Prevention Week two weeks ago. The Departments personnel visited local schools throughout the week, teaching fire safety to children. In addition, the Department hosted its annual Fire Prevention Night at the Fire Station located on Second Avenue. There the public was able to view various fire apparatus on display from neighboring towns along with several demonstrations, specifically a vehicle extrication demo. There were also tons of hand outs, fire safety information and fun activities for children. Come out and join us again next year in October.

02/08/09 2nd Taskforce 32 Working Fire within 24 hrs
Quint 91 was dispatched on Taskforce 32 for a dwelling fire at 524 W. Majestic Avenue in Bellmawr (the border of Bellmawr and Barrington). Squad 32 and Quint 91 arrived almost simultaneously to find heavy fire venting Division A of a 2 story, wood frame, single family dwelling. Squad 32 stretched an 1 3/4" attack line while Quint 91's interior team made entry through the rear and began a search. Quint 91's O.V.M. and Chauffeur vented several windows before heading to the roof to open it up. After extinguishing a majority of the fire on the 1st floor, Squad 32 and Quint 91's interior team attempted to make it to the 2nd floor. Due to heavy fire conditions and cluttered floor space and stairs the crews were unable to make it up the stairs. An exterior attack was mounted, knocking the majority of the fire down before crews were finally able to overhaul and finish knocking all visible fire down. This was the 2nd working fire for Taskforce 32 in a 24 hr period.
